Summer 2017
Five years ago we made the decision to take on Torico Performance Bicycles and during those years we have moved shops, taken on another shop, changed bike brands, stocked new products, increased staff and entered the world of road cycling.
The end goal has never changed and that from the outset was, and is to be the best mountain (and now road) bike shop in Morzine. That can only ever be possible with the right people working with you. This year we had Lee, Matt and Jonas in the mountain bike shop and Will in the road bike shop. There were guest appearances made by Jimmy during the summer just to remind us he is mad as a box of frogs and not to forget Henry taking on the bike washing duties. As always the bikes were maintained to the highest standards, running smoothly all summer long and customers well looked after. Thankyou guys for all your hard work and professionalism. My job would be a whole lot more difficult but for the effort you put in.
The mountain bike shop moved across the road this year to bigger premises. What seemed like a very scary prospect at the time actually worked out really well. We were able to display the bikes, parts and accessories way better and the guys had much more room for their workstands, benches and tools to carry out their servicing and repairs.
We changed back to Nukeproof bikes this summer and both the Pulse and the Mega were great all season. With Sam Hill winning the Enduro World Series on a Mega that can only improve the brands image and probably send sales through the roof. Next years bikes look great and they are even doing a carbon version of the Mega 27.5 as ridden by the man himself.
It was our second season running a specific road bike Shop and unfortunately unlike last year we didn’t have any big road bike events visiting our town. That however didn’t seem to deter the roadies and our rentals increased for the second year running! Let’s hope Morzine builds on the success of the Etape and Tour and becomes the alpine destination for roadies. That would be great to be known as the premier resort for both mountain and road bikers.
Our end of season trip took us to the Aosta valley for some great riding, awesome views and delicious food. Thankyou to Lee for organising a fantastic day.
For 2018 we are continuing with Nukeproof and Scott and possibly another brand which is yet to be confirmed
We are currently updating our website so as soon as it is up and running I will let you know. You can visit the Torico site or Facebook page for any news.
Finally I would like to thank everybody who visited, shopped and rented from Torico this summer. I hope you had a pleasant experience and we look forward to seeing you again in 2018.
